Rocksteady and Roots Reggae Music

The Web home of the Phonosonics

Phonosonics is a Roots Reggae band from Victoria, BC. This powerhouse group specializes vintage in Jamaican Reggae, Rocksteady and Soul. They combine an electrifying danceability with soulful harmonies in a reverent update of a vintage style.

Lead by Spencer Cleave (formerly of Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra) on Vocals, Guitar and Sax, Phonosonics has a well-rounded sound with Katie Hegan adding an expert female vocal presence. The rhythm section is an all-star band: Eric Leydon on Keyboards (formerly of Wool on Wolves), Al Udell on Bass and Ned Saric on Drums (both of UnderCover). They also feature a venerable roster of guest brass players.

Phonosonics has performed in club, party and festival settings. The group was honoured to perform at both Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival and Rifflandia in 2016. They have performed tribute sets to classic soul and are as comfortable performing their own material as they are backing visiting reggae artists.

Phonosonics look forward to entertaining you at your local club or festival!
